The job to abandon 5 wells was bid in April; work began in July and continues. The City of Waukesha is moving to the City of Milwaukee water and needs to abandon their wells. Wells 5 & 6 are deep wells of more than 2000′ in depth and well 6 is 20″ in diameter. Well 5 contained an oil lube pump on 10″drop pipe from which 330 gallons of oil was bailed. Wells are being abandoned with pea stone, bentonite, and grout layers. The three shallow wells are sand and gravel screen wells between 100 – 130 ft in depth. One of these wells is uniquely positioned inside a well house in a neighborhood and required a gantry pull. The well house shell looks like a single family home to match its surroundings.
